How This Analysis Actually Works (And What It Can't Do)
Understanding the snapshot method and why it's safer than other tools
I've tested dozens of Instagram follower tools over the years. Most of them ask for your login, run automated actions in the background, and eventually get your account flagged. This tool is different - and understanding why matters if you care about keeping your account safe.
πΈ The Snapshot Model
Instagram lets you download your own data through their official Download Your Information feature. What you get is a ZIP file containing JSON files (followers_1.json and following.json) with your followers and following lists. Each file is essentially a snapshot of your account at that moment in time.
When you upload that export here, we parse it and show you everything: who doesn't follow you back, your mutual connections, how long you've followed certain accounts. That's your first snapshot.
Upload another export a week or month later, and we compare the two. That's how we detect who unfollowed - we're literally comparing two points in time. No magic, no API hacking, just straightforward data comparison.

π Why No Password Is Safer
Apps that require your Instagram login are doing one of two things: either using Instagram's private API (which violates their terms and can get you banned), or scraping data while logged into your account (which Instagram detects and flags as suspicious activity).
The data export method sidesteps all of that. Instagram themselves provide the download feature. We're just analyzing files that already exist on your computer. There's no login, no session tokens, no automated requests hitting Instagram's servers on your behalf.
β What This Analysis Is Great At
-
Finding non-followers
See your entire list of people you follow who don't follow back - instantly, with timestamps showing when you followed them.
-
Mutual connections
Full breakdown of who you follow that also follows you. Useful for understanding your real community.
-
Follow ratios and rates
Your follow-back rate, fan rate, and how these numbers shift over time.
-
Long-term trends
Upload exports monthly and you'll see patterns - who consistently engages vs. who dropped off.
-
Cleaning up old follows
Find accounts you followed years ago that never followed back. Perfect for periodic list cleanup.
β What This Tool Cannot Do
-
No real-time tracking
We can't tell you the moment someone unfollows. You need to upload a new export to see changes.
-
No history before your first upload
We can only detect unfollowers after you've uploaded at least one snapshot. Past unfollows are invisible.
-
No "why" explanations
We can tell you who unfollowed, not why they did it.
-
Instagram export delays
When you request your data, Instagram can take hours or even days to prepare it. That's on their end, not ours.
-
Deactivated accounts
If someone deactivates their account, they'll show as "unfollowed" - even if they come back later.
-
No profile viewer data
Despite what some scam apps claim, Instagram doesn't share who views your profile. That data doesn't exist.
π₯ Who This Is Actually For
This tool works well for creators and influencers who want to periodically clean up their following list. If you've followed 2,000 people over the years and want to know which ones never followed back, this shows you in seconds.
It's also useful for agencies managing multiple accounts, or anyone who got burned by sketchy apps and wants a safer alternative. You're not giving us access to anything - just uploading files Instagram already gave you.
If you need instant notifications every time someone unfollows, this isn't the right tool. But if you want accurate data without risking your account, this is exactly what the data export method is designed for.
Why This Method Is Different
We never ask for your Instagram login. You download your own data directly from Instagram.
Analyzes the ZIP file you download from Instagram's official tool.
JSON files processed securely on our servers. Delete your data anytime.
We don't connect to Instagram's servers. No risk of account restrictions.
Common Questions About Safety
Your account security matters to us
No. We never ask for your Instagram login. You download your data directly from Instagram's official tool, then upload the ZIP file here.
The ZIP file Instagram sends you. We only read followers_1.json and following.json - your follower lists with timestamps. No photos, messages, or other data is processed.
No. We don't connect to Instagram's servers or use their API. We only analyze files that Instagram officially provides to you. No automation, no suspicious activity, no ToS violations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Not the exact moment. This tool compares two data exports you upload at different times. If someone was in your first export but not the second, they unfollowed somewhere in between. For more precise timing, upload exports more frequently.
Yes. We never access Instagram directly. You download your own data from Instagram's official export feature, then upload that file here. No login, no API calls, no risk of being flagged.
Depends on how closely you want to track changes. Weekly works for most people. Monthly is fine if you just want periodic cleanup. Daily is overkill for most accounts.
Apps that ask for your Instagram login use unofficial APIs that violate Instagram's terms. That's how accounts get restricted. The data export method is slower but it's the only approach Instagram actually allows.
No. Nobody can. Instagram doesn't share that data with anyone, including in your data export. Any app claiming to show profile viewers is lying.
We store your follower snapshots so you can compare them over time. You can delete everything from your account settings whenever you want. We don't sell or share your data.
No. Requesting your data export is completely private. Instagram doesn't notify your followers, and nobody can see that you downloaded it. It's just a copy of your own information.
The export includes your followers list, following list, and timestamps showing when each follow happened. It also contains posts, messages, and other data - but we only read the follower files. Everything else is ignored.
Yes. Private or public doesn't matter. You're downloading your own data directly from Instagram, so account privacy settings don't affect anything. Works the same either way.
